Indian Wedding Dress
The crazy shopping in India finally lead to the dress that I fell in love with. I had decided even before we began planning the wedding that I was not going to wear red. I wanted to do something different - pink maybe.
But then I found it, with its gold detailing, beadwork and elegant shades. I was in love.
See some of the images below that highlight some of the detail on the dress.

The Motion Picture
In case all the wonderful photos were not enough to convince you of the amazing elements that came together over three days to blend both my Greek Culture and my husbands Indian Culture, here is a highlights video has had put together to share with family and friends.
Although we still opted to have the two hour video of each wedding, we wanted out guests to get a quick snip it of the entire event, without being bored with all the extra bits in-between. This highlights video was put together magically by Studio Memoir - Dale and his team were amazing and capture the full emotion over just 17 minutes!
Be sure to contact Dale at Studio Memoir and discuss your videography needs with him and let him put together a video package to suit your needs!
Enjoy the video!

A Touch of Mehndi
One of the most exiting parts of having an Indian wedding is the experience of having the mehndi done.
I had my trial done on Monday and I am in awe of the work these talented woman do. The most interesting part of the experience was learning how Nikita came to practice the art of mehndi, "I was doodling at a cousins wedding..." at which point an elder pulled her a side and began to teach her the fine art of painting the elegant designs onto brides hands and feet.
Have a look at some of the photos that were taken by Wesley Poon on my Mehndi Evening, the night before my wedding.
Enjoy!

Renelle Rampersad - A Bollywood Romance
These are some of the beautiful photos Renelle got of Shalin and I at Summer Place for our Indian Wedding Ceremony.
This wedding started as you would most wedding do in the middle of summer, prayers, wishes and a bit of superstitious acts in the hopes that it doesn't rain, but because in life we don't get everything we want, despite having already set up the outdoor ceremony area, half an hour before the ceremony was about to begin, the heavens opened up and showered us with its love :)
Even though our wedding was completely rained out :( some how we still managed to have an amazing ceremony, gorgeous sunset photos and of course our reception was as colorful and intriguing as I planned!
Have a look and let me know what you think!

From India with Love
The result of having both an Indian and a Greek wedding is that both cultural and traditional elements HAVE TO BE fulfilled 100%.
Here in South Africa, most Indian families make the trip to India to spoil both the bride and the groom with gorgeous, and cheap, outfits from their beautiful land - but one things for sure, Indian or not, you need to prepare yourself for the whirl wind you are about to embark on!
From the moment we landed to the time we got back on the plane, India was full of surprises! I spent the first three days in India, with the in laws, on the verge of tears - too much, too quick! From one store to the next I didn't know if I was coming or going!
The reality is that there is so much to see and so much you want to do that it becomes overwhelming. In the end we spent most of our time in a four-story shop called Paneeri (thanks to some recommendations from friends) and ended up buying the entire wedding parties outfits from this store (I'm talking about bride, groom, grannies, sisters, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews - you name it, we bought it!).
The thing is, I guess you need to experience it but if you can't bear the thought of the chaos just before your wedding, there are option:
1. Just go to one great store like Paneeri in Mumbai where everything you will need is under one roof
2. Organise a planned shopping trip with specialist based in India who will drive you around and negotiate on your behalf. After this trip I have begun making contact with local shopping assistants to put together some wedding shopping trips from South Africa to India just to make life that much more easier! Ill post more info on this as it develops!
The main thing is to enjoy the experience and even though you may deny it when you are in the middle of everything thats happening around you, when you get back home, believe me you will be planning you future daughters trip for her wedding day!
Happy planning!
